Don't Get Left Out In the Cold
When the temperatures drop, many drivers are tempted to start their cars and walk back inside, leaving their cars to "warm up." Unfortunately, some car owners have already learned a lesson the hard way by walking outside to find their car is gone.
Grandview Police Department is already dealing with an increase in stolen cars, trucks and SUVs. Last week, a criminal got lucky outside a convenience store as a driver ran in for a moment, leaving the car running and unlocked. Adding insult to injury, it's illegal to leave your car running, unlocked and unattended and could result in a ticket.
Don't think it won't happen to you, or your neighborhood is too nice for a car to get stolen. Criminals in the cold know where to go to get their hands on a nice car. Remember, most crimes have two common factors which are opportunity and motivation. You cannot control a criminal’s motivation but you certainly have the means to control the opportunity. Protecting yourself and your property is easiest through prevention.Take K9 Hondo's advice: don't get left out in the cold!
