Grandview Ready for Ice Storm

Post Date:01/12/2017 5:04 PM

We are now under an ice storm warning until Sunday. The forecast could change, but we want you to know all we're doing to keep you safe as well as try to prevent any major slowdowns.

Public Works crews are pretreating snow routes and hilly areas with an increased amount of calcium/chloride/beet juice mixture. Staff will be on duty overnights starting Friday to check on street conditions. Public Works is also preparing for possible tree damage making sure chainsaws and loaders are ready to go.

As always, Grandview's First Responders are ready for for anything. Grandview Fire Department will staff a reserve ambulance, meaning each Fire Station will have an ambulance in service. The Grandview Police Department is using its Twitter account (@GrandviewMOPD) to encourage people to stay off the roads and it will continue to post updates throughout the storm.

City leaders are in contact with the government liaison from KCP&L and will be in communication over the weekend. If you lose power, you can report it to KCP&L at 1-888-LIGHT-KC.

The best places to receive storm updates, power outage info, and street condition information is right here on grandview.org, our Facebook page facebook.com/CityofGrandview, or Twitter @CityofGrandview.

Stay warm and stay safe!
