Clean-Up & Disposal Programs
he following clean-up and disposal programs are available in the City of Grandview.
Community Clean-Up Program
Twice a year, during the spring and again in the fall, the Public Works Department offers an opportunity for residents and local businesses to drop-off any solid waste and/or yard debris at the Public Works Maintenance Facility at 7000 East 139th Street (139th Street & Winchester Avenue). This Program is conducted on the first four Saturday's of April and again on the final Saturday of October and the first Saturday of November. There is a charge of $12.00 per vehicle, per drop-off, and proof of residency is required. In addition, those who wish to drop-off tires will be charged $1.50 per tire (maximum of eight tires). Appliances are accepted, but there is an additional charge of $30.00 per appliance for those appliances containing Freon. Waste oil will also be accepted with a maximum of five gallons. Citizens will be required to retain their waste oil containers. No other hazardous waste will be accepted during this program. For further information, please call (816) 316-4856 during regular business hours. Note: The City of Grandview does not provide any other type of trash service, including bulk pick up. Citizens independently contract with the private trash hauler of their choice for trash service. There are no recycling centers or landfills within Grandview city limits.

Trashbusters Program
Individuals and/or organizations have the opportunity to earn money while improving the appearance of the City. The City will pay $5.00 per bag of trash collected. Safety vests, pick-up sticks, and trash bags are provided by the City. For additional information, please call the City Engineer (816) 316-4857 during regular business hours.

Waste Oil & Tire Disposal
For their convenience, citizens of Grandview are provided with a year-round waste drop-off site. Citizens may dispose of up to five gallons of waste oil at the Public Works Maintenance Facility at 7000 East 139th Street (139th Street & Winchester Avenue) Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. Citizens must take waste oil containers away with them after disposal. The city also provides for a drop-off site for tire disposal on the first Saturday of each month between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon. There is a maximum of eight tires (at a cost of $1.50 per tire). During the regular workweek citizens must first call to make sure a mechanic will be present for the drop-off. Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Reimbursement
The City of Grandview will reimburse citizens who wish to dispose of household hazardous waste. These materials are extremely dangerous to our environment and the City urges all citizens to utilize this program. Such waste includes:
- Paint
- Automotive and Household Batteries
- Acids and Alkalis
- Fluorescent Tubes
- Fertilizers, Herbicides, and Pesticides
- Used Oil and Automotive Fluids
- Fuels (Kerosene and Gasoline)
- Solvents (Cresol and Turpentine)
- Pool Chemicals
- Household Cleaners
Citizens must call to set-up an appointment for disposal at either the Kansas City drop-off site (4707 Deramus) by calling 784-2080 or the Lee's Summit drop-off site (2101 S.E. Hamblen Road) by calling 969-1805. To receive reimbursement, citizens must bring the original receipt for the disposal and proof of their Grandview residency to the Public Works Department located in Grandview City Hall. Reimbursements will be made up to $50.00 per household once during each calendar year. For more information, please call (816) 316-4856 during regular business hours.
