Fire Prevention Week 2012 The Grandview Fire Department would like to cordially invite all citizens young and old to our Fire Prevention Week open house scheduled for Saturday, October 13th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station #1 located at 7005 Highgrove Road. Our firefighters will be there to educate and entertain in addition to sharing some special fire department treats from the grill. Rumor has it that Sparky the Fire Dog will be making an appearance, so don’t forget to bring your camera and smiles!

Grandview FD Open House 2010Fire prevention week, established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire that killed more than 250 people in 1871, is officially scheduled for October 7-13 this year. The Grandview Fire Department, like thousands of fire departments throughout the United States, participates in this special event by passionately sharing safety messages with school children and various organizations. This year’s theme is “Have 2 Ways Out!” and focuses on the importance of fire escape planning for both individuals and families. By the time children graduate from high school, they will have participated in well over 100 fire drills. Practice makes perfect, so it just makes sense that families plan and practice together!

If you have any questions relating to fire prevention week or fire safety in general, please feel free to contact your local fire department. If you happen to live in Grandview, we can be reached by calling 816-316-4975.
