Belvidere Elementary School and LINC Caring Communities will host a free event to provide basic dental and medical health services for Belvidere Heights residents and students of Belvidere Elementary.
Event partners: The Medina Clinic, Walgreens, and Truman Medical Center Lakewood will provide students and residents with a range of health services and supports including:
- On-site doctor visits
- Flu shot vouchers
- Health screenings
- Vision screenings
- Bone density screenings
Participants can also receive on-site treatment for ear infections, arthritis pain, cold/flu symptoms, and other minor infections.
Dental cleanings and fillings will be provided to a limited number of pre-screened students.
Many Belvidere students and families go without regular health maintenance due to the scarcity of local health care providers and the lack of public transportation. As a result, preventable illnesses escalate to chronic con-ditions before families seek care, and families often turn to emergency services for treat-ment. Free health service events will help families address basic health needs, leading to healthier families and lower usage of emer-gency services. The April 6 event will be the first of four Saturday health service events.
