Major Highway Improvements

Grandview is fortunate to be located the confluence of the greatest vehicular routes in the metropolitan area. Access to major highways in any direction is only minutes away from any part of the City.

18-wheeler_truck Interstate Highways 435 and 470 are located on Grandview’s northern edge. U.S. Highway 71 is a major north-south highway that cuts through the center of Grandview and joins the two Interstates at north Grandview. The daily vehicular traffic at the confluence of the three major highways, often called the “Grandview Triangle,” carries over 250,000 vehicles per day. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) began a massive $260,000,000 project to reconfigure the “Triangle” in 2001.

Raised Highway Structure The redesign project was designed to accommodate a daily volume of 400,000 vehicles per day. Completed in 2008, the new system now provides quick and easy access to and from Grandview and its businesses, as well as for traffic passing though the City.
An east-west route, Missouri Highway 150, crosses Grandview’s southern border. A $47,000,000 MODOT project currently underway is converting the Highway into a four-lane parkway. The project will make the road a major east-west artery for traffic from Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and Johnson County, Kansas. It also will feed major vehicular onto U.S. Highway 71 that intersects Grandview on a north-west basis.

Highway 150 Highway 150 already services a majority of Grandview’s industrial business community. Its direct connection with U.S. Highway 71 and indirect linkage with Interstate Highways 435 and 470 to the north gives companies excellent highway access in any direction.
All of the highway work of the past couple of years, combined with ongoing construction projects are resulting in major enhancements to Grandview’s transportation highway system. Federal, State, and local road improvements are making Grandview a hub of the metropolitan area’s distribution, wholesaling, and light industrial activities.
