POSITION SUMMARY
Grandview, Missouri is a first tier suburb in the KCMO metropolitan area with a population of 25,000. Grandview Firefighter-Paramedics respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, urban search & rescue and other calls to protect life and property; participates in all-hazards risk reduction and training; and maintains cleanliness of fire department facilities and readiness of firefighting equipment; holds primary responsibility for the readiness of medical equipment; provides medical treatment at the paramedic level as authorized by the Standard Operating Guidelines of the Grandview Fire Department. The fire department operates a 24/48-hour shift schedule and operates one ALS pumper, one ALS ladder truck and two fully staffed ALS ambulances from three stations.
Job Responsibilities
- Responds to emergency situations and incidents to suppress fires, affect rescues/extrications, participate in searches, mitigate hazardous materials and perform other duties as assigned and capable.
- Operates fire fighting tools, aerial equipment, emergency medical equipment, extrication and rescue equipment and a variety of related tools and vehicles
- Responsible for all patient care (Advanced as well as Basic Life Support) in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, statutes, and protocols
- Participates in on-going technical and physical training to maintain certifications
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs to department facilities
- Participates in fire prevention and safety education/promotional events. Conducts station tours and gives presentations and demonstrates the use of fire suppression and safety equipment
- Assists in documenting incidents and provides incident information to appropriate agencies and supervisor
- All other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid state driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid Missouri State Paramedic License or NREMT-P license
Preferred Qualifications
- Have completed a CPAT or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Firefighter I & II, hazardous materials awareness and operations, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.
PAY
Starting at $63,748 annually. Will consider lateral transfers for up to 5 years of service.
