POSITION SUMMARY
The City of Grandview is looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, interacting with the community, and helping neighborhoods stay safe, clean, and welcoming.
As a Neighborhood Services Officer, you’ll help enforce city ordinances, respond to citizen concerns, investigate code violations, and assist with animal control activities. In short: you’ll play a direct role in maintaining the quality of life in our community.
Job Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to)
- Patrol neighborhoods to identify and investigate ordinance violations such as nuisance properties, abandoned vehicles, sign violations, and animal control issues
- Respond to complaints from residents and work with property owners to resolve code compliance concerns
- Issue warning notices, door hangers, and court summonses when violations occur
- Remove unauthorized signs from public rights-of-way
- Investigate animal bites and complaints involving animal neglect, cruelty, or abuse
- Capture and impound stray animals when necessary
- Assist in towing abandoned or inoperable vehicles
- Work collaboratively with the Building Services Division on minimum property maintenance code enforcement
- Prepare reports, inspection documentation, and court-related materials
- Operate and maintain city equipment and vehicles
- Participate in rotational on-call duty, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
This role requires a combination of investigation, problem solving, and public service.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience working with the public, or a combination of education and experience providing similar skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain animal control certifications through NACA, NACCA, or MACA within the first year of employment
Additional required training may include animal handling, bite-stick training, and chemical immobilization certification

Physical Demands
This position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and environments. Duties may include:
- Driving throughout the city
- Lifting moderate weight equipment
- Animal handling and field investigations
- Exposure to traffic, environmental hazards, and unpredictable situations
Pay & Benefits
Pay Range: $23.37 - $31.55
Paid Holidays and PTO accrual.
