COVID-19 Response

Post Date:03/23/2020 3:30 PM

"Good afternoon. I'm lucky enough to be here today with Grandview Police Chief Charles Iseman, City Administrator Cemal Gungor, and Fire Chief Ron Graham.

I wanted to address you personally as we prepare for the latest step to protect our community from COVID-19. The cases of the virus are growing by the minute. In response, Jackson County has ordered residents to Stay at Home effective 12:01 a.m., Tuesday March 24. You can read the order at

Along with many other Mayors and County Executives, I know Jackson County Executive Frank White made this tough decision because lives depend on it. This is the right thing to do and it’s our job as citizens of Grandview and Jackson County to do what’s best for everyone, not just ourselves.

There are exceptions to the Stay at Home order. For example, you can still travel to meet your basic needs to grocery stores, gas stations, banks, doctor’s offices and hospitals, pharmacies, and restaurants with takeout and delivery are all still open. You can still go outside, just keep your distance from others. Places of worship ARE NOT exempt from this order. To stop the spread of this virus, we must stay home right now. It’s that simple.

If we all do what’s being asked of us, the sooner life can return to normal. Let’s all stay home and stay safe. "
