Warmer temperatures mean more people are heading outdoors, and some of those people are knocking on doors. Grandview Police Department offers these safety tips for protecting yourself outside and important information for when solicitors come knocking.

OUTDOOR SAFETY

Grandview Police Officers average 250 park checks every month, yet over the weekend they received a call from a woman who said she was inappropriately touched by a man near the trail at Meadowmere Park. If you're headed outside to enjoy the weather, here's how you can protect yourself.

-Go outside during daylight hours.

-Take a friend or pet.

-If you are alone, bring your cell phone.

-CALL 911 If you notice someone acting strange or something suspicious.

SOLICITOR SAFETY

Interested in solar panels? Do you need pest control? It seems like sales people are knocking on more doors all the time.

For the safety of residents and solicitors, Grandview requires a soliciting permit to go door to door in the City. Grandview PD investigates each individual applying to solicit.

If a solicitor knocks on your door, you can ask to see their permit. If they don’t have a permit, or they won’t leave your property, call police.
