Short-Term Rental Registrations Open for World Cup

Post Date:01/13/2026

Short-term rentals in Grandview fall under new guidelines which requires residences advertised for brief stays on popular sites like Air B&B and VRBO to register with the City. Under the new regulations, only single-family homes and duplexes are eligible to be a permitted short-term rental. These units will also be included in the City’s hotel tax of 5% per night.

Listing a property as a short-term rental in Grandview will require:

-An occupational (business) license by the property owner ($25 annually)

-A short-term rental permit ($100 annually)

-Property inspection ($50 annually)

-A verified local contact in case of emergency

“These new regulations ensure the safety of everyone staying in the units as well as provide property owners guidelines for operations,” said Community Development Director Randy Dunn.

For special events like the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, property owners can get a temporary short-term rental permit for 60 days for only $50. All other requirements still apply. Residents can register at the Community Development counter inside City Hall at 1200 Main Street.

When asked to review short-term rentals by the Board of Aldermen, Dunn met with existing operators and reviewed policies of peer cities.

The rental inspector in the department will be responsible for enforcing the regulations. Short-term rentals found operating without a permit will be subject to a $500 fine.
