The future home of the Grandview Farmers Market at 514 Main Street is really starting to take shape-- AND it has a name.
In March, we asked the community to vote for a name for the new building, and you chose... (drumroll please) Grandview Station. Mayor Leonard Jones and Congressman Emanuel Cleaver revealed the name on March 31st on site. However, Rep. Cleaver had a bigger reason for visiting Grandview. He secured $850,000 as part of his Community Project Funding Requests to go toward the construction of Grandview Station.
“This project will transform downtown Grandview into a vibrant, accessible gathering space where families can connect, small businesses can grow, and local farmers can thrive," said Congressman Cleaver. "By creating a permanent market with modern amenities, green space, and sustainable infrastructure, the city is not just building a structure, it’s building opportunity, strengthening our local economy, and creating a place that reflects the pride and spirit of Grandview for generations to come."
Located next to the railroad tracks, Grandview Station features alternating slanted rooftops, steel beams, dozens of garage doors, timber, kitchen and heating and cooling for year-round events, as well as an outdoor plaza for games and gathering.
While the project has a $2.1M price tag, that's not what the City will pay. In addition to the $850,000 federal dollars, Grandview also received a $750,000 CDBG grant from the State of Missouri for construction. $350,000 will come from the Building Up Grandview bond dollars. The remaining $150,000 is city funded.
Grandview Station is expected to be complete by July 1, 2026. Stay tuned for a grand opening day and time!
