The City has approximately 1300 streetlights along the public streets and depends upon citizens to report a light being out or cycling on/off. You can report a streetlight by telephoning the Public Works Department at 816-316-4856 or via emailing suggestions@grandview.org. If you leave a voicemail message, please include your telephone number. Normally, a streetlight can be repaired within a week.

We cannot help you with streetlights that are not working and located within commercial properties, apartment complexes, or residence’s backyards. Some streetlights along I-49 and its ramps are owned and maintained by the Missouri Department of Transportation. We will gladly forward the information to them about one of their streetlights.

How to Request Additional Streetlights

The Public Works Department is responsible for recommending installation of additional streetlights to the Board of Aldermen. For further information, please call the City Engineer Athena Huynh (816) 316-4857 during regular business hours.

Current City of Grandview Street Light Policy is to:

a.) Provide a street light at each intersection

b.) Mid-block street lights may be provided to insure that the normal spacing of street lights is 250 to 400 feet, but never greater than 500 feet

c.) The intensity of the lights shall be a minimum of 7,500 lumens on local streets and 25,500 lumens on arterial streets

Within most of the residential areas of Grandview, the Evergy power lines are in the backyards of homes.  When this is the case, it will be necessary for Evergy to obtain an easement from the adjacent property owners in order to power the light at the street.  The adjacent property owners must be willing to donate the necessary easement to Evergy at no charge.
