The Board of Aldermen, as the governing body of the City, has the authority to give final approval to most development applications. The Board holds public hearings and makes the final decision on Comprehensive Plan Amendments, Zoning & Subdivision Text Amendments, Rezonings, Conceptual Development Plans, Planned Developments (PD), Conditional Use Permits, and Final Plat. The Board holds its business meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at City Hall.

Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)
2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. on an as needed basis.
The Historic Preservation Commission is the body charged with preserving the City’s historically and architecturally significant buildings and neighborhoods. The Commission takes action on Certificates of Appropriateness and Certificates of Economic Hardship. The Historic Preservation Commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month at City Hall. Parks & Recreation Commission
1st Thursday of each month @ 6:00 p.m.
The Parks and Recreation Commission is an advisory body to the Board of Aldermen on the basic policies that guide the department in the administration of the parks and recreation program. The Parks and Recreation Commission is responsible for recommendations pertaining to the park and recreation needs of the city and programs to serve those needs.
Planning Commission (PC)
1st Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. on an as needed basis.
The Planning Commission is appointed by the Board of Aldermen. The Planning Commission reviews most of the development applications submitted to the City, holds public hearings, and makes a recommendation for approval or denial to the Board of Aldermen. The Commission takes final action on preliminary plats. The Planning Commission meets on the first Wednesday of the month at City Hall. Public Hearing cases may be found at the City's Event Calendar. Tax Increment Financing Commission
Meet as necessary -- Liaison: City Planner
The City has a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Commission that serves as an advisory board to the Grandview Board of Aldermen. Meetings are held on an as-needed basis when action is required by this Commission. TIF is a financial tool used to capture the increase in property taxes and sales taxes created from new construction. Up to 100% of the increase in property taxes and 50% of the increase in local sales taxes (the “increment”) following completion of a development can be captured within the TIF project area. The property tax and sales tax increment may then be used to reimburse a private developer for eligible expenses or to repay principal and interest on bonds used to finance the eligible expenses for a maximum of 23 years.

Zoning Board of Adjustment
3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. on as needed basis.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment is appointed by the Board of Aldermen. The Zoning Board of Adjustment considers appeals of staff decisions, requests for variances from conditional use requirements or from the zoning ordinance, and applications regarding changes or extensions of legal nonconformities. The Zoning Board of Adjustment meets on an as-needed basis. Public Hearing cases may be found at the City's Event Calendar.
