Mayor Leonard Jones has called Grandview home since 1970. Mayor Jones and his wife, Michelle, have three daughters, three grandsons and one great granddaughter. 

Elected to the Grandview Board of Alderman in 1998, Mayor Jones served as Alderman Ward 1 for sixteen consecutive years. Mayor Jones was appointed Mayor on January 21, 2014 and first elected as Mayor on April 8, 2014. 

Mayor Jones presently serves as Board Member of the MARC Total Transportation Policy Committee and Board of Trustee of the Little Blue Valley Sewer District.

Mayor Jones has served the City of Grandview and surrounding regions in an array of capacities including: Grandview Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, ReDiscover Board of Directors, Missouri Municipal League Finance Committee, HENA Executive Committee, Grandview Assistance Program Board of Directors and National League of Cities Service Line Warranty Committee.

In addition to his duties as Mayor, Mayor Jones retired from Sprint/T-Mobile after working in various positions for 34 years.

Mayor Jones graduated from Grandview High School and continued his education at Grambling State University earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and then earning his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Webster University. Mayor Jones achieved the lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) designation.

• Recipient of 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award from Metropolitan Community College- Longview
• 2019 Recipient of the Jane Bryan Distinguished Alumni Award
• Past and current ad hoc committees: Little Blue Valley Sewer District Board of Trustees, VFW post 8100
• Represents Jackson County representative on the MARC Total Transportation Policy Committee
• Achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander as a Supply Corps Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves
