Only those individuals that have been convicted after a trial, can Appeal (Trial D’Novo) their case to the Jackson County Circuit Court. A new judge will hear the case without reference to any previous findings The Municipal Judge must first set an appeal bond, which must be posted along with a filing fee of $30.00 made payable to the Jackson County Circuit Court.
Appeals must be filed within 10 days of sentencing in the Municipal Court, you will need to complete the appropriate paperwork, post the required appeal bond, and pay a $30.00 filing fee all made payable to the Jackson Circuit Court at the Grandview Municipal Court Clerk’s Office in order to perfect your appeal. You will be given a court date and time to appear at Jackson County for your appeal date.
Request for a jury may be made to the Municipal Court and the request will be forwarded to the Circuit Court for processing as authorized by statute.
