Grandview is also home to TWO pieces of heART from the KC Parade of Hearts! Our heart is aflutter thanks to the City’s newest piece of art in front of City Hall.

Inspired by Main Street’s 2023 designation as a certified Monarch Waystation, the City was fortunate to secure a butterfly inspired heart during the 2023 KC Parade of Hearts auction.

Parks & Rec crews delivered the monarch heart on August 10th and set it up outside City Hall along Main Street. Artist Sara Dean created the heart inspired by the migration path of the monarch butterfly and the important role our region plays along the migration path.

Earlier this year, MonarchWatch.org certified Grandview's Main Street as Monarch Waystation. The butterfly heart now marks the importance of Main Street as a stop along this butterfly highway as the Monarchs migrate.

The base of the heart is also painted with monarch-attracting plants like milkweed, coneflower and zinnia– all plants you’ll find along Grandview’s Main Street.

The spot in front of City Hall will be the heart’s permanent home.
