The Communications Unit is supervised by Sergeant Gabriel Gilbert and is staffed with eight full-time professional and dedicated Telecommunications Officers.

It is staffed 24 hours a day and is responsible for receiving all 911 and non-emergency calls for service from the public of Grandview. All telecommunicators are highly trained to assess each call, calm panicked callers and to dispatch the appropriate emergency services. Approximately 31,000 calls for service are handled annually by the Communications Unit. Using state of the art computer aided dispatching technology; telecommunicators constantly monitor, assign and request the necessary outside resources for every incident.
