SMOKE DETECTORS: required on every level and in all bedrooms.

CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS: required when there are gas appliances, gas furnance, gas hot water heater, or an attached garage.

RENTAL AND NON-OWNER OCCUPIED REGISTRATION

Dwellings must be registered yearly. Registrations are due on December 31st for the following calendar year.

  • Per Dwelling Fee Schedule
    • 1-50 Dwelling Units: $12 per dwelling unit.
    • 51-100 Dwelling Units: $600 or $11 per dwelling unit, whichever amount is more.
    • 101-150 Dwelling Units: $1100 or $10 per dwelling unit, whichever amount is more.
    • 151-200 Dwelling Units: $1500 or $9 per dwelling unit, whichever amount is more.
    • 201 or more Dwelling Units: $1800 or $8 per dwelling unit, whichever amount is more.

RENTAL AND NON-OWNER OCCUPIED INSPECTION PROGRAM

Approved by the Board of Aldermen January 22, 2019, this new ordinance (below) will require inspections of rental and non-owner occupied property before being occupied by tenants. Inspections will not start immediately. Property owners will notified when inspections are scheduled to begin.

    •  Select Multi-Unit inspection only if a large complex with multiple units requiring inspections.
    • Inspections are only required between occupancy before a new tenant can move in.

    • Inspection Certificate Fee payments are required before a dwelling can be occupied. Inspection Certificates will not be provided until payment is made.  
    • Inspection Certificate Fee is $20 per dwelling.
